As the market for compact, single-lens dash cams becomes increasingly saturated, KDLINKS strays from the trend and attempts to provide a camera with a more feature-filled, dual-lens design with a multitude of interesting features. With a unique, premium build and a high quality IPS display, the R100 is a noteworthy competitor to today’s popular dash cams.
In the box you will find all the required connectivity cables, some literature, the camera itself and a 16GB micro SD card. While the included storage will suffice for shorter recordings, it is recommended that you get a bigger one as the Full HD video that the R100 records does eat up storage rather fast. Luckily the unit does support additional storage up to 128GB, which is more than enough for longer road trips. Note that just like most dash cams, a higher class micro SD card is always better as it will render recordings faster and prevent any data corruption.
Moving on to the unit itself, you will notice that it has a very unique design that looks nothing like most modern dash cams and more like a rear-view mirror. This is because the R100 is designed to replace exactly that and act as the new mirror for inside your car. On the front, you will find the IPS display and a few navigation buttons. The rest of the surface is covered in a mirrored glass panel that works just as well as any normal mirror should. Flip it over and you’ll find the rear camera and a pair of mounts to attach it, as well as a speaker. Ports and connectivity is all kept relatively clean and streamlined, resulting in an unobtrusive look that is consistent with any car interior. Overall, the R100’s design is extremely clever and remains stealthy while still providing great functionality.
The front camera is dubbed by KDLINKS as a rather odd 1296p resolution. It looks great and provides perfect legibility day and night and features a 140 degree wide-angle lens. But the star of the show, is the Full HD 1080p rear camera, which also features a wide-angle lens and smooth 30 frames per second recordings. The six-glass lens provides perfect night-vision and will work great in any weather. It also features Wide Dynamic Range, which is similar to HDR and will essentially provide better quality video with higher color accuracy and less grain.
The built-in display is where the KDLINKS excels. It is conveniently located the left of the mirror and is bright with great viewing angles. With its 5 inch form factor and high resolution IPS panel, the display is somewhat comparable to that of a smartphone. This is substantiated by the interface, which is reminiscent of a smartphone home screen, with big, easily distinguishable icons for each setting and function. The display is also capable of streaming footage from both cameras at once, which goes to show just how much processing power the R100 has under the hood. No dash cam display comes closet this one in terms of quality, size and functionality.
The KDLINKS R100’s feature set doesn’t end there though. The AUTO OFF feature is one of the more unique additions and allows the R100 to automatically shut down when your car is turned off. This is useful if you have a car where you need to use the cigarette lighter port as the power source. As long as the R100 is plugged in, it is also capable of motion detection and will create a short recording each time it detects movement. The unit also has an emergency lock button and thanks the built-in G-Sensor, it does feature Accident Auto Detection, which can lock the current video file when activated.
While the R100 does employ a traditional lithium-ion battery, it is capable of lasting a good few hours thanks to the 800 mAh capacity. Any need to recharge can obviously be alleviated by simply connecting it to a power supply. The battery has been regulated and does have MSDS and PONY certification, so the chances of it burning out in extreme weather are highly unlikely.
KDLINKS also prides themselves upon the fact that they have a 24-hour support service and response team that can help you with any problems you face in the future. Most companies don’t provide similar services and given the complexity of modern dash cams, its great to know there’s someone available to help.
At the end of the day, the KDLINKS R100 provides a full set of features in a rather unique form-factor that will look like a factory install in any car. The included safety features will make driving and insurance claims a much less stressful experience and given the small price of the R100, it is definitely worth it for a dual dash cam setup.

Introduction
KDLINKS has been around for a while now, producing some amazing and revolutionary electronic gadgets. But perhaps the best thing to come from the company is its line of dashboard cameras. These in-car devices make great companions with an amazing ability to capture every important detail of your journey.
While it is largely accurate to say that every KDLINKS dash cam is great, the one that really comes out as a 5-star gadget is undoubtedly the R100.
Its design alone is miles ahead of what you will get in other models. For starters it is a dual dash cam, meaning it has two lenses. The front-facing lens captures footage of things happening in front of your car while the rear-facing lens does the same for events happening behind the car. That’s not even the best part. This dash cam connects directly to the back-up light so that every time you reverse it senses that and automatically starts displaying footage from the rear camera on the screen.
It is also super slim and features an anti-glare mirror and remarkable 5-inch IPS screen. With its 800mah built-in battery, the R100 can power itself up and record for a substantial amount of time even when your car’s engine is not running. You definitely need a dash cam that can do that to keep your car safe when it is in parking mode.
The package comes complete with everything that you need, including a 16GB microSD card. That means you can start using the R100 right out of the box. It is very simple to install, there’s no hardwiring needed (unless your car doesn’t have a cigarette lighter). In fact linking the camera to your car’s back-up lights is a one-wire connection and you’re good to go.
Despite the large screen, the dash cam is actually well-sized for discretion. It measures just 13.1 x 4.7 x 2.5 inches and weighs just 2.1 pounds.
KDLINKS Main Features
Dual channel dash cam
Being a dual lens camera means the R100 can record events that unfold in the front of and behind your car simultaneously. But there’s an option to switch the rear lens off and turn the camera into a single front cam. The front camera mounts to the windshield while the rear one mounts to the back window. Both are not weather-proof so you may want to mount them inside the car.
Auto-record
KDLINKS R100 will start recording automatically when you start your car and stop when the ignition goes off. That’s a standard feature that most dash cams have. But this particular model brings something else to the table – it has a unique auto on/off feature that shuts the dash cam off automatically if it doesn’t detect vehicle movement within a five-minute interval. That should prevent any chance of the dash cam draining your power even if your car keeps supplying the cigarette lighter with power.
Superb real HD video
The front lens of the R100 records 1296P videos while the rear lens records 1080P footage. Each one has a viewing angle of 140 degrees, bringing the total field of view to a whopping 280 degrees. With that video clarity and wide field of view you can be sure that the dash cam will capture even the slightest of details on the road ahead and behind your car.
Advanced night vision
The KDLINKS R100 combines wide dynamic range (WDR) technology with a 6-glass lens to produce the best footage in low lighting conditions. The videos you’ll get at night are just of the same quality as daytime videos.
G-sensor
With its G-sensor module, this dash cam can auto-detect collisions and lock all the footage that was recorded just before and after the incident. There’s also an emergency lock button that does the same. You can use it if you want more assurance or if the G-sensor did not detect the collision.
Parking mode
Even when your vehicle is parked and completely turned off, the KDLINKS R100 will still detect any movements that occur around it thanks to the built-in motion detector. It will then start recording a short footage. That should help increase the safety of your vehicle.
Pros
- Supports up to 128GB microSD card
- KDLINKS offers one year warranty
- Stunning video quality
- Very easy to install and use
Con
The 5-inch screen is a welcome addition but it might prove to be a bit too big for some users. The good thing is that you can turn it off and focus on driving. The dash cam will still continue to record even when the screen is off.
Other than that the KDLINKS R100 is a very solid dash cam that can serve you satisfactorily in any situation you happen to find yourself in.
